What is it ?
The procedures osteopathy uses in diagnosis and treatment promote healthy functioning in a person by correcting mechanical imbalances within and between the structures of the body.
By structures one means the muscles, bones, ligaments, organs and fascia. The fascia is a very thin layer of tissue that is found under the skin.
What do osteopaths do ?
Osteopaths are capable of treating a whole range of disorders. Some common problems may include:
low back pain which may or may not include sciatica.
Neck and upper back pain which may or may not include pain in shoulders, upper arm, elbow, fore-arm, wrist and hand.
peripheral joint pain (shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, foot).
workplace strains.
sports injuries.
backache of pregnancy.
symptoms of chronic condition e.g. asthma, arthritis.
effects of trauma e.g. whiplash.
period pain.
irritable bowel syndrome.
postural problems and many others.
In our Centre we also practise the technique called "crochetage" (diacutaneous fibrolysis). This technique treats all adherences following traumatism, post-surgical healing fibrosis, pains of the locomotive apparatus, neuralgia as a result of mechanical irritation of the peripheral nerves and the trophic syndromes of various limbs (carpian canal, algoneurodystrophy, amongst others.).
You can also receive advise on an adapted diet depending on various afflictions such as rheumatism, spondylarthritic ankylosis, muscular fatigue or general tiredness etc.
Advise can also be received in the field of sport: car racing, American football, tennis and karting, for instance.
